PulteGroup's Southeast Florida Division Celebrates Completion of New Workforce Homes in Delray Beach

Event at Carver Square commemorates successful partnership that is providing home ownership for low-to moderate-income buyers

PulteGroup's Southeast Florida division and the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) celebrated the completion of Carver Square, a new workforce housing community with 20 affordably priced homes. The event recognized the organizations that pulled to together to put home ownership within financial reach of local low- and moderate-income buyers.

“By building workforce housing at Carver Square, we are fulfilling our promise to give back to our local communities,” said PulteGroup Southeast Florida Division President Brent Baker. “This project is addressing a great need for Delray Beach and revitalizing the economy of this historic area.”

After acquiring two blocks of single-family properties, Delray Beach sought ways to build affordably priced housing on the 20 lots. They sit west of Southwest 7th Avenue, east of Southwest 8th Avenue, and between Southwest 2nd Court and Southwest 3rd Street.

PulteGroup bought the site and created a neighborhood with one- and two-story homes. The four floor plans have 3-5 bedrooms, 2 to 2.5 baths, and 2-car garages. Prices range from $166,110 to $308,490 based on the buyer’s annual household income and the size of the home.

Qualifying residents have purchased the residences through the Palm Beach County’s Workforce Housing Program. All the homes have been built and sold. Roughly a dozen buyers have closed and moved into their new  homes while the remainder have pending closings.

“As the economy shifts and the cost of housing continues to rise, projects such as Carver Square are a high priority for the Delray Beach CRA.  We are thrilled that with PulteGroup we could bring the American Dream to these families,” said Delray Beach CRA Board Chair Adam Frankel. “This project proves that with the support of the community it is possible to bridge the affordability gap in our city.”

PulteGroup’s affordable housing commitment extends throughout Palm Beach County. In 2018, its Southeast Florida division partnered with agencies including the West Palm Beach Housing Authority to build residences for low- and moderate-income homebuyers. The first of 34 townhomes and two single-family residences at MerryPlace Estates in West Palm Beach was celebrated in June 2021 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at which the homeowner was given the keys to her residence.
