Pulte Homes and Local Contractors Build and Donate New Home for Wounded Veteran in Collaboration with Operation FINALLY HOME
ATLANTA, GA, June 11, 2014 – A crowd of well-wishers lined the streets as U.S. Army Sergeant Perry Haley and his family received the keys to a brand new designer-decorated, mortgage-free, and fully-furnished Pulte home today in the Barrington community of Sugar Hill through PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program.
The dream of homeownership became a reality when Haley and his wife Autumn were surprised live on CNN in February with the news that they would be the recipients of one of the 20 homes the Built to Honor program plans to deliver to deserving veterans across the nation in 2014.
“We are eternally grateful for our nation’s service men and women who have given so much to protect and defend our freedoms and we’re honored to help put this brave veteran in a better place,” said Casey Hill, division president of the Company’s Georgia operations. “We hope this home will help improve the quality of life for Sgt. Haley and provide him and his family with enjoyment and security for years to come.”
Pulte Homes and local contractors, vendors and housing partners donated the land, labor and materials for the new 2,600+ square foot home, which includes four bedroom, three and a half baths, a screened lanai, and the newest consumer inspired home features, such as the Pulte Planning Center®, Everyday Entry™ with drop zones and loft space for Sgt. Haley’s three children, Georgia (12), Eva (8) and Hannah (3).
Haley and his family applied for the new home through Operation FINALLY HOME, a 501(c)(3) organization that honors wounded, ill and injured veterans and widows of fallen soldiers with new custom-built, mortgage-free homes.
“We are truly honored to be working with PulteGroup to support one of our nation’s heroes,” said Molly Halliday, vice president of marketing of Operation FINALLY HOME. “We are forever indebted to Perry for all he has sacrificed for his country, and we hope this gift of a home will help ease some of his struggles.”
Sgt. Haley joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school in 2000 and spent 13 years of his military career stationed at several bases, including Fort Drum in New York, Fort Campbell in Kentucky and Fort Stewart in Georgia. He was injured while serving in both Iraq and Korea, and has been dealing with health issues as a result of a brain tumor. He has received several commendations, including Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award and Good Conduct Medal.
