PulteGroup’s Virtual Fundraiser Raises Over $158,000 for Children’s Home Network in Tampa Bay

TAMPA, FLA., Nov. 19, 2020 – PulteGroup’s West Florida Division held its annual fundraiser in support of the Children’s Home Network, but this year it was a little different.  In place of their annual Building to Make Lives Better Charity Golf Tournament, the team hosted COVID-19-safe virtual events that included a “Golf Ball Drop” and online auction. The events raised $158,475, breaking last year’s fundraising record, to benefit the organization.

“Despite the limitations of the pandemic, we are proud to have been able to have a highly-successful fundraiser for an organization that means so much to our team and our community,” said Sean Strickler, President of Pulte’s West Florida division. “Our relationship with the Children’s Home Network has grown every year with this amazing event, and this year, despite its challenges, was no different.”

Keeping with the golf theme of past years, while adhering to contactless social distancing guidelines, Pulte sold numbered golf balls and arranged for a helicopter to drop the balls onto the green at Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater. The owners of the golf balls that made a hole-in-one shared a $1,000 prize.

The event was a success thanks to the participation of trade partners and suppliers who stepped up and gifted their pledged donation, despite the tournament’s cancellation and switch to a new virtual format. In appreciation of their support, each participant was gifted a certificate for a complimentary round of golf at Southern Hills Plantation Club. Local PulteGroup employees also participated in the fundraising event, and the company matched all employee donations.

“Once again the Pulte team exceeded our expectations,” said Irene Rickus, President & CEO of Children’s Home Network. “Given the situation with the pandemic—cancelling the tournament and still proceeding with fundraising—the results this year were unexpected and truly wonderful.”

Today, the Children’s Home Network serves nearly 25,000 underprivileged and at-risk children and adults each year with values that focus on respect, dignity, trust and compassion. They strive to become the leader in innovative programs and services in the field of child and family well-being, and as an exemplary model for the governance, management and operation of nonprofit entities.
