PulteGroup Named HIVE 50 Innovator for Atlanta’s First Smart Neighborhood

Homebuilder recognized for strategic partnership with Georgia Power at Pulte’s Altus at the Quarter Development

ATLANTA – Dec. 12, 2018 – PulteGroup, Inc. (NYSE:PHM) announced today its selection as a 2018 HIVE 50 Innovator. HIVE—housing innovation, vision and economics—brings together thinkers from inside and outside of the homebuilding industry to inspire creative change in all aspects of homebuilding. Presented by Hanley Wood, honorees are selected by a team of editors in recognition of the top 50 innovators in housing that are leading the charge to inspire creativity, improve performance, and explore better ways to build. In addition, PulteGroup was named the HIVE 50 People’s Choice Award winner at the third annual HIVE conference in Austin, Texas.

“We are proud to be recognized as a leader in innovation for our partnership with Georgia Power to develop Atlanta’s first, one of a kind smart neighborhood. We are also pleased to receive the People’s Choice Award, which was selected through public voting,” said Ryan Marshall, president and chief executive officer of PulteGroup. “It is incredibly motivating to be honored among those who share our passion for innovation and growth in the housing industry.”

“Transforming the way we build in this country is an enormous task, and the honorees in our HIVE 50 Strategy category are revolutionizing the business models, processes and practices we have grown accustomed to,” said Peter Goldstone, CEO of Hanley Wood.

Altus at the Quarter features Atlanta’s First Smart Neighborhood, a series of 46 Smart Home-enabled and energy efficient townhomes in partnership with Georgia Power. The homes will feature distributed energy-efficient resources, materials and appliances, along with rooftop solar panels and in-home battery storage. The homes are also equipped for the latest in smart home automation technology, including voice-activated security, smart thermostats, front door locks, and garage door control.

“Altus at the Quarter is a great example of how we’re always working to integrate new technologies that can deliver greater energy efficiency, leverage green products and employ sustainable practices,” said Marshall. “Through this project and our work with Georgia Power, we continue to learn about building energy efficient homes more cost-effectively, while shrinking the homes’ carbon footprint and making them less expensive to own. All of which translates into lasting benefits for our homeowners and the environment.”
