PulteGroup Breaks Ground on Del Webb Bexley

Age-restricted community features 850 homes, multimillion dollar clubhouse

TAMPA – (February 1, 2018) – PulteGroup’s Tampa region broke ground on its most ambitious project this year, an 850-home, age-restricted community in Land O’ Lakes under its popular Del Webb brand.  Del Webb Bexley will be developed on 489 acres within the Bexley master-planned community over four phases. Del Webb closed on the purchase of land for phase one last year.

“We feel the Tampa area is underserved for baby boomers looking to live in a place that is designed specifically for them,” said Sean Strickler, PulteGroup division president for the west Florida region. “At Del Webb Bexley, they can live near their children and grandchildren, but in a low maintenance, gated community that caters to their lifestyle.”

Del Webb is a pioneer in active-adult communities targeted towards the 55+ demographic. This is the first Del Webb community to be built from the ground up in the Tampa Bay area since 1960.

At Del Webb Bexley, the builder will offer six different consumer-inspired single-family home designs with between 2-4 bedrooms, 2-4 bathrooms and 2-3 car garages. The centerpiece is a 17, 000 square-foot, multi-million dollar clubhouse that features a large social room, café offering snacks, beer, coffee and wine, fitness area, resort-style community pool and recreational activities planned by a full-time lifestyle director. Home prices will start in the low $200,000s.

Del Webb will be one of the largest builders within Bexley, a 1,825-acre master-planned community developed by Newland Communities approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Tampa.  As if Del Webb’s private amenities were not enough, Del Webb’s Bexley residents can enjoy a lakefront club and café and will have the option to purchase, for an additional fee, access to Bexley’s many all- ages amenities including 10 miles of multi-use Avid Trails™, parks and play areas, soccer field, dog park, two resort-style pools, bike park and a robust schedule of social events.

“Del Webb has an outstanding reputation as a leader in active adult communities, and we’re pleased to partner with them,” said Aaron Baker, Newland Communities’ Vice President/General Manager for Tampa North. “Bexley has already attracted interest from many baby boomers, and we’re thrilled to offer them a neighborhood of Del Webb’s quality, with homes and amenities designed with them in mind.”

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 31, 2018 at the development site. Key project executives from both PulteGroup and Newland were in attendance along with three Pasco County Commissioners.
