DEL WEBB UNVEILS NEW CONSUMER INSPIRED DESIGNS
Valley’s Sun City Communities Open 16 New Models
PHOENIX, AZ – December 17, 2013 – Del Webb’s two Valley Sun City communities are unveiling new consumer inspired home designs that are the result of extensive consumer research on how boomers live and what they want in their homes. The 16 new models open to the public this month at Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch in Florence and Sun City Festival in Buckeye.
The latest evolution of floor plans keep true to Del Webb’s focus of designing homes with the homebuyer in mind and that help provide easy, effortless living solutions, said Rebecca Lundberg, vice president of sales for PulteGroup’s Arizona Division. The homes also feature solar as standard, along with numerous other energy efficient features.
“Del Webb spent considerable time analyzing the features that consumers said they want and don’t want in their home. As a result, 55+ homebuyers in the Valley can choose from new home designs that are designed for the way they truly live,” Lundberg said, adding that Del Webb communities across the nation have opened, or will be unveiling new consumer inspired designs. “Baby Boomers are savvy and looking for their new home to be a smart retirement decision. For Del Webb, that means seeking insights from thousands of empty nesters and pre-retirees for the latest innovation in new home design.”
Sixteen fully furnished new models (eight at Sun City Anthem and eight at Sun City Festival) offer features inspired by consumers such as: raised dishwasher options, zero-step garage entries, wider doorways, large showers with seating, air conditioned storage options and garage extensions, and flexible laundry configurations for crafts, storage, extra office space, etc. Models at Sun City Anthem opened to the public on December 14, and models at Sun City Festival open on December 21. The new plans are now available for presale at both communities.
Starting in the $170s at Anthem and $180s at Festival, the new plans range in size from 1,573 to more than 2,514 square feet. The solar and other enhanced energy-efficient features at the Sun Cities represent the largest new home solar offering in the state and responds to boomers’ desire both to be green and to reduce the overall operational costs of their homes.
“With the 55+ market trending to more energy efficient options, we wanted to provide solar as standard, not just an option,” Lundberg said. Combined, Sun City Anthem and Sun City Festival are planned for approximately 11,200 new homes. In addition to the solar electric power system, other standard energy-efficient features include high-efficiency heating and cooling systems (14 SEER HVAC), CFLs, enhanced attic insulation, tankless water heaters and low water use toilets and fixtures.
“That makes the Sun City communities in the metro Phoenix area some of the most energy efficient new homes available.”
