ALBUQUERQUE – July 1, 2016 – Del Webb at Mirehaven’s new Sandia Amenity Center opens this month, offering residents indoor and outdoor recreational facilities to enjoy year-round. The public is invited to view the new center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 16, after homeowners will get the first look at the completed amenities later this month.
"I can’t wait to jump into that pool!," says Bill Daney, who with his wife moved into their new Mirehaven home in February. "We have met some great folks here and are looking forward to many good years ahead!"
Many clubs and special interest groups have already formed in the community, and the opening of the new amenity will serve as a home base for activites, said Julie Karl, director for the Del Webb community.
“These spectacular new amenities will be the hallmark of the Mirehaven community, offering homeowners a great lifestyle and endless hours of enjoyment and recreation,” Karl said. “While these facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, we know they will serve as a focal point for friends and special interest groups to gather.” The Sandia
Amenity Center features a 10,750 square foot complex that includes multi-purpose rooms for use by clubs and various groups, fitness area with state-of-the-art equipment; movement room for classes such as yoga, aerobics and Pilates; locker rooms, billiards, social areas, catering kitchen, large conference room and coffee bar with Wi-Fi. Extensive outdoor areas include: a 3,400-square-foot covered patio; event lawn; outdoor resort pool with spa, shade sails, large deck, beach entry and lap lanes; heated outdoor spa with fireplace; tennis; bocce and pickleball courts; and outdoor social areas with fire pits providing panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains and Rio Grande Valley.
The new amenity opened about a year after the first residents moved into the much-anticipated Del Webb active adult community last year, which offers still-working boomers the combination of lifestyle and location in the heart of Albuquerque. The 550-home community reflects a trend of new smaller Del Webb communities that are located close to city centers and appeal to still-working boomers and retirees alike.
“We love the community and how friendly and supportive everyone is,” says Jeri Burzin, who moved to Mirehaven with her husband Lee last year from California. Burzin says she looks forward to taking yoga and Pilates classes, as well as using the new gym and pool. “We can’t wait until the amenity center opens! It will greatly enhance our lifestyle, and most of all serve as a central place to hang out and enjoy each other and some of the most beautiful views of Albuquerque.”
The Del Webb community is part of the larger Mirehaven master plan, which includes an additional 360 homes for a separate Pulte Homes community. With more than six miles of on-site trails offering direct access to Petroglyph National Monument Trail system, Mirehaven is bordered by national monument open spaces on three sides, and near a proposed City of Albuquerque 82-acre sports complex, which is planned to include multiple baseball fields.
