“We are so excited about our new home and want to thank everyone involved for making this dream possible,” said U.S. Army Specialist Phillip Martin. "We are so grateful to Pulte's Built to Honor program and Operation FINALLY HOME for providing us the opportunity to be home owners.”
Valentine’s Day was the first time Specialist Martin, his wife Audrey and their one-year-old daughter saw their new four-bedroom 2,000-square foot home, located in the new Pulte Homes Desert Oasis neighborhood in Surprise. While Pulte worked with the Martins on certain details of the home, the family had no idea it would be fully furnished and landscaped.
Local elected officials, firefighters, contractors, military groups, Pulte employees and others supporting the new home dedication attended as a surprise to Specialist Martin and his family. All enjoyed a complimentary on-site barbeque lunch as well.
Inspired by 9/11, Martin joined the service in 2007 and served in Afghanistan. He was injured on two occasions by IED explosions and mortar attacks that required multiple surgeries. While stationed in the Wounded Warrior Brigade in Texas, he was one of the first responders to the Fort Hood shootings. He now conducts training for first responders of the Phoenix Fire Department.
“It is an honor to build and donate a new home that will provide many years of enjoyment and security for Specialist Martin and his family,” said John Chadwick, PulteGroup Southwest area president. “We would like to extend our sincere thanks for the generosity of more than 40 different Valley contractors for their support of this effort. These valued trade contractors and Pulte employees involved have created a new beginning for this special family.”
As a surprise to the Martin family, the home is fully furnished, includes flat-screen TVs and computers as well as the installation of backyard landscaping and barbeque area.
Pulte Homes and Valley contractors built and donated the home in collaboration with Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization focused on helping veterans and their families transition to the home front by addressing one of their most pressing needs – a home to call their own.
“We are so grateful to Phillip for his service and the sacrifices he has made to his country, and this gift of a home will enable him to focus on his healing and raising his family without worry,” said Rusty Carroll, executive director of Operation FINALLY HOME. “PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program is providing the much needed foundation to help Phillip and his family move forward.”
