2018 Rings in Fresh New Home Design Features at Del Webb Charleston at Nexton

SUMMERVILLE, SC, Dec. 12, 2017 — Blended indoor and outdoor spaces, luxury kitchens and baths and maintenance-free living all define six new professionally designed Del Webb Nexton model homes, flush with features for the way active adults want to live, play and entertain.

After a successful grand opening of the models in November, and the holidays in full swing, the Nexton team says it’s a great time to explore what’s new for 2018 in Del Webb home design. From spacious zero-entry showers, quartz carefree countertops and cascading sliding glass doors, all add to the casually comfortable lifestyle for those 55 and over.

“Baby boomers may be downsizing, but they don’t want to compromise on quality and selection when it comes to their homes,” said Kinsey Green, design consultant for PulteGroup, Inc., the parent company for Del Webb. “The choices are plentiful and the new models give homebuyers a chance to touch and visualize the space before the building process begins.”

Del Webb Charleston at Nexton recently released 64 home sites in the gated community where the first residents are expected to begin moving in next spring. Ten single-family home designs are being offered in sizes ranging from two-to-five bedrooms and two-to-four baths. Homes begin at 1,200 square feet up to 3,800 square feet and start in the mid $200,000s to middle $300,000s.

Some of these new options are being offered in Charleston for the first time by Del Webb, which recently sold out of its nearby Cane Bay community.

“With all the new choices it’s never been easier or more fun to deeply personalize a new Del Webb home,” Green said.

Here are her top picks for the latest features found in the model homes at 543 Willow View Way in Summerville.

Blended indoor/outdoor spaces
The latest trend in sliding glass doors call for “cascading” panes measuring as wide as 12 feet and creating more uninterrupted indoor-outdoor living space with the sunroom or screened-in porch.

“These moving glass walls are expected to be a popular option since residents will be able to
build a private swimming pool and add a backyard fence,” Green said.

Quartz countertops
Made from one of the hardest minerals on earth, quartz is low in maintenance and the most durable option for a kitchen countertop. Unlike natural-stone slabs that are mined, quartz is engineered in a factory and is stain and scratch resistant and does not have to be sealed.

Farmhouse sinks
Today’s farmhouse sinks fit seamlessly into today’s open floor plan while serving as an architectural focal point for the kitchen. Deep basin apron sinks, in both stainless and cast iron, make for easy cleaning of large pots and cookie sheets with less splashing and bending down.

Spacious showers
King-sized zero-entry luxury showers with built-in benches and water-waving rainfall showerheads are making a splash. Without the “curb” at the entry, it’s a barrier-free zone, with no obstruction for
wheelchairs.

Tile style
Sleek 12-inch by 24-inch porcelain tile that mimics the look of marble — without the cost and maintenance. “Everyone wants a spa-like feel in the bath,” Green said. “This new marble look has come into its own, giving the bathroom a modern contemporary style.”

Contrasting cabinets
Del Webb customers previously selected one style of cabinetry to use throughout the home. Now they are able to choose from a dozen new cabinet colors and styles and accessorize with knobs, drawer pulls and even self-closing drawers.

Wood look underfoot
Plank porcelain tile with the elegant look of hardwood has become one of the most sought-after types of flooring. It’s easy to care for a fashionable choice in high moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
